In 1924, a number of Sullivan residents organized a Sunday School at
the Rethmeyer home.
From
early 1925 to 1935, the Odd Fellows Hall on Hughs Ford Road was rented
for church services.
Temple Baptist Church was organized on September 11, 1927. A lot was
purchased on April 30, 1935 as the site for a new church home.
The first church home was a 36' by 60' basement which was dedicated on
November 10, 1935.

A frame building was added and dedicated on June 30, 1940 and later covered
by brick.
In
1960 a new auditorium was built next to the first and dedicated on January
22, 1961.

In
1991 the old auditorium and basement was replaced with offices and educational
space. The auditorium was renovated and dedicated in June, 1993.
